Long Service Leave

The Long Service Leave legislation states that employees should accrue LSL at a rate of 2 months (or 8.67 weeks) for every 10 years of service.

So in 10 years we need to accrue 8.67 weeks of LSL. This is 4.335 fortnights (divide by 2) or 329.46 hours (at 76 hours per fortnight). The number of fortnights in 10 years will be 10 * 52 / 2 = 260.

So the hours to be accrued each fortnight is 329.46 / 260 = 1.267154.

It really depends on how accurately you calculate all of the above figures and if you want to fine-tune how many fortnights are in each year etc.

The actual figure used is determined by the paymaster at the site.
