Retargeting may be required if you wish to skip a section of your route. This feature is similar to when you drive in a different direction to your SatNav's recommendation and it eventually gives up and selects a new route. Kayak is different in that it won't automatically select a new target without instruction from the paddler because this may lead to confusion. If you do a long-press on the map, KayakNav will recalculate the next target to the one that is next closest to the finish line from your current location. This is the direct, line-of-site distance, so where you are following a winding river route, this may cause the target to skip ahead through a number of twists and turns.
